Senior Center Staff

The staff working at a senior center are truly the heart and soul of the institution, comprising a dedicated team with diverse skill sets, from facility and program administration to activity coordinators,  social workers, administrative personnel, and culinary staff. Their roles extend far beyond mere job descriptions; they are tasked with creating a vibrant, supportive, and safe environment where seniors can thrive. This involves everything from organizing engaging social events and facilitating stimulating educational programs as well as providing essential personal assistance in managing health insurance needs, government benefits and programs while offering compassionate companionship. Patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges of aging are paramount qualities woven into their daily interactions, as they strive to foster independence, combat isolation, and ensure a high quality of life for every individual they serve. Ultimately, these dedicated individuals don't just provide services; they build relationships, reduce isolation, and profoundly enhance the quality of life for the seniors they serve, making the center a true home away from home.

Stephen Wilthew

I was raised in Arabi, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans, and graduated from Holy Cross High School and Southeastern Louisiana University. The summer after high school, I gave my life to Jesus, and He has been the center of my life ever since.

I have been blessed to share 44 wonderful years of marriage with my wife, Patricia. Together, we have 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Jesus truly is the glue that holds our family together.

Professionally, I spent 20 years in the health insurance industry before settling in Picayune, which my wife and I are grateful to now call home. Currently, I serve at the Picayune Senior Center, where I greet members at check-in and assist with various administrative duties.
