Ruby Manning

Ruby Manning moved to Picayune in 1963 and began her professional career at Crosby Memorial Hospital, where she served faithfully for 16 ½ years. She later joined the Picayune School District as a Facility Maintenance Technician, dedicating 16 years to the position. In addition, she worked as a Nursing Assistant at Slidell Memorial Guest House from 1979 until her retirement in 1996.

In October 2008, Ruby reentered the workforce through the Mississippi PD program at the Senior Center of South Pearl River County. After serving four years in that capacity, she became a full-time employee and accepted the role of Congregate Meal Assistant, a position she has held for the past 17 years.

A devoted member of PHD Ministries for 19 years, Ruby has served in many leadership roles, including Sunday School Teacher, Mother of the Church, Chairperson of the Pastor Aide Committee, and Assistant on the Financial Committee. She remains active in her church and faithfully attends Bible study on Tuesday evenings.

Ruby was married to the late Johnny Lee Manning, with whom she shared a loving family of four children—three sons and one daughter. She is blessed with 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Ruby finds great joy in her work at the Senior Center, where she values the fellowship of the staff and participants. She is known for her heart of service and her willingness to assist others in a variety of ways, embodying kindness, compassion, and dedication in all she does.
